Writing Style: Many of Henkes’ books are realistic fiction that elementary school children can relate too. They often use many of the same or similar characters and talk about issues such as going off to school, growing up, and apologizing. He is known for using lots of repetition in his books. Henkes also includes great descriptions. It is not uncommon for one of his sentences to have multiple and varied adjectives.
